Its 5:03 am and I'm wide awake. I have to be at my store in 3 hours so I don't really see the need to sleep.

Daniel's cousin died yesterday so we'll be going to the funeral this afternoon. Its a sad situation, especially for the family members and one that could have been avoided for the most part. He had medical issues but also abused painkillers so its really hard to tell what the cause was. He was an only child and that makes it so tragic.

Life has been busy as hell at work and at home. Daniel is almost done with his first semester of grad school...one down, one to go. He's doing exceptionally well and I am so, so proud. Work is good for me too. I got a promotion that I didn't expect at all and my store is doing great. I love retail management, I don't care what anyone says :) On the down side, Black Friday is upon us and I have to be at the store at 4 in the morning. Yuck.

I guess I'm all out of steam. No sleep makes for weak blog updates. I'm going to drink a few more cups of green tea and then tackle today.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

OMG

Daniel got the Knight Fellowship at UA...he'll be starting in August and get his Master's in Journalism.

We had pretty much given up on this but he was unanimously picked by the faculty!  Best news is that he gets a monthly stiped, half of his tuition paid and gets to work 2 months at the Anniston Star.  Plus they are able to place about 80% of all graduates!

We are flipping out.

I am so proud of myself!

We've had an XB360 for quite a while now but ever since we moved (over a year ago) we haven't connected it to XB Live.  I bought Daniel the network adapter and we got the wireless router yesterday so we could finally play online again.  Last night, I set up the router, trouble shooted like a crazy women and managed to get our XB up and running.  Daniel couldn't figure out how to set up the laptop so I did that too :).

Right now, he's playing Halo 3 online and I'm surfing the web in the living room!

I know that's a pretty minor thing for most people but we are technologically challegenged so this is epic.

Leavin' (for) Las Vegas

Sep. 6th, 2008 | 09:25 pm

In exactly (well, if the plane is on time) 12 hours I will be on my flight to Vegas.

I'm all packed, give or take a few things and ready for the morning which will come all too early...we're leaving the house at 5:30 so we can be at the airport 2 hours early. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow; the early morning, saying goodbye to Daniel and the like. We've never been apart for more than a day so this is a new experience.

I'm excited to get away though...this will be a great break from work and I'll get to see a whole lot of things I haven't before.

I can see clearly now...

Actually, not really. I'm still waiting for my glasses. I called yesterday to inquire (the lady last week told me, 'it'll be a miracle if they're in by Friday but they should be here by Tuesday') and they weren't in yet. I'd like to note that Lenscrafters's customer service has been equal every time: its crap. I mentioned that my glasses were supposed to be a rush order and she gave me the same line of, "we allow 14 days for special order lenses. We'll call you when they come in".

What I'm most pissed about is 1) I may not have my glasses before Vegas and 2) They may not be correct even if I do get them. I've never, ever, ever had a problem with glasses before and I'm really irritated that for some reason, they can't be made correctly and quickly like they have been every other time. To add insult to injury, they do not offer a 1-800 number at all. Grr...

On the bright side, today is the 3rd and I leave for Vegas on the 7th!!! I have a half day at work today because I'm going to B'ham to practice for an elvis karaoke skit we're doing as a district in Vegas (in front of my whole region). Because I'm a girl, I somehow got roped into being a backup singer for the whole thing. Tomorrow and Friday are work as usual but I'm off Saturday so I can do some last minute shopping, laundry and begin to pack. I cannot wait...I need some time away from work.

Aug. 17th, 2008 | 11:36 pm

We had a lazy day before the start of a busy week. For the bulk of the day, I napped on and off and watched episodes of The Hills. Daniel and I cleaned pretty much the whole house from top to bottom so we don't have to worry about it so much this coming work week.

We're starting a diet tomorrow too so that should be interesting. I'll be sure to update when there's anything to be updated.

My iPod isn't showing up on iTunes. I tried to troubleshoot but its too late for my brain to process much of anything. I think I'm going to give up for the time being and try again tomorrow.

Off to bed for now..I have a conference call at 9 in the morning.

I probably have the best husband ever. He cleaned the whole house, did three loads of laundry and cooked me lunch yesterday all the while making sure I didn't lift a finger. A girl could get used to this.

This week has been busy already with work (mostly because of the midnight sale we had last night). The rest of the week is shaping up to be steady but hopefully not overwhelming. I'm off this weekend and I'm definately looking forward to it.

I've been listening to a lot of Nada Surf the last few days. A friend of mine made me a mix cd with Nada Surf and The Old 97's three or four years ago and I happened across it in the car. I never realized how much I really liked both of those bands...she was always ahead of the game when it came to music; in fact, she's part of the reason I got so into it myself. I've been listening to 'Killian's Red' nonstop; it seems like a perfect song for a rainy day.

Unforunately, on this rainy day I have to work so I should probably get myself headed in that direction.

A bad way to start the morning.

My car was broken into and my wedding china was stolen.

I am so pissed.

Toxic

Aug. 4th, 2008 | 07:21 pm

While I never really liked Brittany Spears' version of her song, "Toxic," I must say that Tristan Prettyman's rendition is fantastic. I haven't taken it off repeat all day.
